Garen Haddeler I have recently completed my PhD studies in Robotics at the
National University of Singapore (NUS), where I was mentored
byProf
Chee-Meng Chew. Throughout my research journey, I
collaborated withDr. Albertus Hendrawan Adiwahono and
Dr. Micheal Chuah, who are my co-supervisors and mentors at the Agency for
Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR).
I have a keen interest in robotic software development, computer vision, and machine learning, particularly focusing on improving robot autonomy through perception, navigation, and control strategies.
During my doctoral studies over the last four years, my
research primarily focused on terrain sensing, mapping,
navigation, autonomous decision-making, and task planning
strategies for wheeled and legged robots. Additionally, I
specialized in developing locomotion control algorithms
specifically designed for legged robots operating in challenging
environments. During my undergraduate years, I have completed my bachelor's
degree in Control and Automation Engineering from Istanbul
Technical University (ITU) in 2019. Meanwhile, I worked as a researcher in the Robotic Laboratory, where Prof Hakan Temeltas provided guidance for my bachelor thesis. I actively participated in extracurricular activities, serving
as a member of the robotic software developing team in the ITU Rover team
. Within this team, we focused on developing control algorithms
for a robotic arm in 2017 and autonomous navigation in 2018 and
attended competitions named University Rover Challenge (URC 2017-2018) and European Rover Challenge (ERC 2018).
